McHenry Golf Club is seeking a friendly, knowledgeable, and detail-oriented Part-Time Seasonal Pro Shop Attendant to join our Pro Shop team. This position is responsible for providing exceptional, personalized service to club members and guests while supporting the daily operations of the golf shop. The ideal candidate will have a positive, professional demeanor, strong attention to detail, and a genuine commitment to creating a welcoming and premium member experience.

The Pro Shop Attendant will assist members with merchandise selection, sales transactions, inventory and merchandising, phone inquiries, golf-related services, and special events while maintaining a clean, organized, and inviting Pro Shop environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Member & Guest Service:
  • Greet members and guests warmly and, when possible, by name, creating a welcoming and personalized Pro Shop experience.
  • Provide friendly, knowledgeable, and proactive customer service, anticipating member needs and offering assistance beyond the initial request.
  • Develop strong knowledge of golf shop merchandise, brands, product features, inventory, pricing, and current product trends to confidently answer questions and make recommendations.
  • Assist members with selecting apparel, golf equipment, shoes, accessories, and other merchandise based on their individual needs, preferences, size, style, and budget.
  • Professionally respond to member and guest questions, requests, and concerns, resolving issues in accordance with club policies and service standards.
  • Provide information regarding tournaments, special events, club activities, policies, and other golf-related services.

Sales & Transactions:
  • Accurately process merchandise sales and other applicable transactions using the club’s point-of-sale system.
  • Handle cash, credit cards, and member account transactions securely and responsibly.
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail in all transactions.

Inventory & Merchandising:
  • Assist with receiving, unpacking, packing, stocking, organizing, and displaying golf shop merchandise.
  • Maintain attractive, organized, fully stocked, and appropriately presented merchandise displays.
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate low-stock or replenishment needs to management.
  • Assist with physical inventory counts and follow established inventory-control procedures.
  • Stay informed about new products, brands, promotions, and merchandise trends.

Golf Shop Operations:
  • Maintain a clean, organized, professional, and inviting Pro Shop in accordance with McHenry Golf Club’s standards.
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures as assigned.
  • Answer incoming phone calls promptly and courteously, maintaining a professional telephone manner at all times.
  • Assist with tee-time scheduling, member inquiries, messages, and other phone requests as needed.
  • Post golf scores and assist members with checking handicaps.
  • Assist with organizing and supporting tournaments, group outings, special events, and other golf shop activities.
  • Work collaboratively with the Pro Shop team and other club departments to ensure efficient, coordinated, and productive operations.

General Responsibilities:
  • Follow all McHenry Golf Club policies, procedures, and service standards.
  • Maintain a positive, professional attitude and appearance in all interactions.
  • Efficiently manage multiple responsibilities and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or appropriate to support the operation of the golf shop.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous golf shop, retail, customer service, hospitality, or luxury retail experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of golf merchandise and familiarity with golf products and services preferred.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills with a professional, friendly, and positive demeanor.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and basic math and computer skills.
  • Familiarity with point-of-sale systems preferred.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems, manage multiple responsibilities, and work effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and special events.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with members of the Pro Shop team and other club departments.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the Pro Shop for extended periods.
  • Ability to bend, reach, lift, carry, and move merchandise and supplies as necessary.
  • Ability to lift and carry items up to 30 lbs.
  • Ability to perform the physical duties associated with stocking, merchandising, inventory, and maintaining the retail environment.
